Last Day of Feb.

Hey, it's the last day of February... And it's payday! I'm rich! sortof...

Saturday was a beautiful day! The weather was gorgeous! My son played in his last b-ball game for the season. It was another close one, but his team lost. But he played his best game ever which was a real encouragement for him.

Saturday afternoon, my parents came down and my wife fixed dinner for all of us and they showed us their pictures and shared their stories from their trip to Australia. They didn't get to visit the zoo to see Steve the Croc Hunter, as it was located about a day's drive from where they were staying. But they did get to see a lot of neat stuff.

Sunday night, we had our church's annual business meeting. I was re-elected for a 3 year term to be on the deacon board. So, it looks like I'm stuck with that for awhile longer... HA!

Tonight, I'm playing my first b-ball game in our spring church league. I played in the fall and spring leagues last year, but due to our move, I didn't have enough time to play in this year's fall league. So, I'm a little out of shape, so I hope I don't pass out tonight. I'll probably be really sore tomorrow morning... :-)

The local college b-ball team broke their 4 game winning streak Saturday by losing to Texas.... Bummer... Upcoming is Iowa State (who just got beat by Nebraska), and Kansas (who just beat Oklahoma State)... Not much hope for anymore wins this season...

Blessings!

The Weekend Cometh

It's Friday! Whee! Been pretty busy at work today, so that's helped the day go quicker. The weekend will be busy as I have a Men's ministry breakfast at the church in the morning, then head off to my son's last basketball game. Then to get some grocery shopping done. Then my parents are coming down for dinner to show us all their pictures and videos from their Australia trip. Can't wait to see the sites!

We have our church's annual business meeting this Sunday night. It's always an enjoyable time... ha!

Well, bout time to head home for the day....

Blessings!

Happy Anniversary!

Today is my parents' 46th wedding anniversary! Congrats to you both... I know it hasn't been easy sometimes! They just got back from a trip to Australia and are having a hard time readjusting to the time differences. In March, they're headed for a trip to Israel to be there during Easter. That would be a really neat trip.

We had a nice visit with my mother-in-law this past weekend. We ended up not taking the dog with us after all. It was just going to be too crowded in the car with him in there. He was excited to see us after we got back. My wife did some more decorating shopping with her sister while we were up there. She got a bunch of pictures and decorating accessories to "fix" up the house. I feel like I'm living one of those Extreme Makeover shows....

I had Monday (2/21) off due to Presidents' Day, so we put up some of the new pictures and then went out and ran around town a little bit.

Guess we're going to keep the dog... He's really a very good dog and will be a faithful friend I believe. We'll see....

As far as the local college b-ball team goes... Last Saturday (2/19), they finally won their *first* road game against Nebraska... Tonight they're back at home against Colorado... Let's see if they can make it four wins in a row.... :-)

Blessings!

Slow Week

It's been kind of a slow week. The weather has been very nice, very sunny, but just a little chilly. So, I've been doing some web development stuff, and working on my memoirs document.

I'm taking off at noon tomorrow as we have a trip planned to go visit the mother-in-law. It's going to be somewhat of a test for the dog we're trying out too. Since it's a somewhat bigger dog, we're not sure how the travelling in the car is going to work out. I just hope there is enough room or riding for 3 1/2 hours isn't going to be very fun.

The local college b-ball team won again last night beating the Baylor Bears 60-53. That's two wins in a row! Woo Hoo! Of course the highlight was them beating Oklahoma in OT... The win last night also allowed me to win my bet with my supervisor. He bet me that he would buy me a soda if they got 12 or more wins... Last night was number 12... I'll take a Mountain Dew please... :-)

Blessings!

Beautiful Tuesday

Seems like Spring outside.... Sunny and in the low 60s... Very hard to stay inside working in a cube today. But, it's suppose to start raining, and get colder tonight, but right now it VERY nice outside. I did manage to enjoy some of it during lunch as I went outside for a long walk. It was very hard to come back in...

Got a call from church that our board meeting was cancelled as there wasn't much business to discuss. So, I'll get a nice evening home with the family which is always nice.

Had a nice Valentine's candlelight dinner with my wife last night (well, the kids were there too as we ate at home). The kids kept trying to blow out the candle... Then we finished it off with some apple pie and ice cream. Ummm.

I signed up to play on our church's spring basketball league. Got a call today that the first game is Feb. 28th... I'm so out of shape, I hope it doesn't kill me....

Blessings!

Happy Valentine's Day

I bestow upon you much happiness on this special Valentine's Day! Uh, guys... you did remember it was Valentine's Day didn't you? :-)

I was off work last Friday for Lincoln's Birthday (doesn't everyone get that holiday off? HA!), so me and the family went to the "big" city 30 miles away as they have a bigger mall and we went shopping! Got some nice things and blew the day there. That night we watched some of the Lord of the Rings: Return of the King movie with our son. We stayed up a little too late for him (10:30pm) as he had a basketball game the next day.

Saturday we went to my son's b-ball game (they lost, again), washed the car and went home. I watched our local men's college b-ball team finally win one (they beat Oklahoma 68-65 in OT!!!) Woo Hoo! Next up is Baylor on Wednesday.

Sunday, we did the normal church thing, but Sunday night my son and I went to see Christian comedian Jeff Allen. He was so hilarious! I laughed so hard I had tears running down my face at times...

Hoping much happiness on all you guys and gals out there on this special day!

Blessings!

What a Rip!

One of my web clients sent me a DVD that was produced by the ministry they are supporting and wanted the videos on the disc put on their website. No Problem! I got the "vob" files ripped easily enough, but getting them converted to "avi" files was a bugger. I tried various converter programs and finally used a trial version of TMPGEnc to do it. Then I just used Windows Movie Maker to create the "wmv" files. Thankfully there were only three videos that need to be converted. Crazy!

Got the day off tomorrow from work due to the Lincoln's Birthday "holiday." We're probably the last remaining entities that still get that day off. :-)

My son is off of school tomorrow also, as it's a "Staff Development" day... It seems kids get out of school more that we ever used too... He get's out next Friday also because the teachers had to stay late the last couple of nights due to Parent/Teacher conferences...

Going to go see comedian Jeff Allen this Sunday night. I'll report on the event Monday...

Speaking of Monday, it's Valentine's Day.... I'm ahead of the game this year as I've already bought my card and gift as of last Saturday... Now, if I just don't forget where I put it... :-)

Well, my struggling local college b-ball team lost another close one last night against the Running Rebels of UNLV... Lost it in the last minute 74-71... They haven't won a road game yet this year.... A lot of fans are calling for the coach's head... But, it was released eariler this week that the Athletic program gave a vote of confidence in the coach, so he'll be back next year. I just wish he'd fix his hair... :-)

Blessings!

Today

The Super Bowl is over with the New England Patriots wining again (24-21) against the Eagles. It was actually a pretty good game when it usually seems to be a blowout.

Speaking of blowouts... my local college b-ball team got *spanked* on Saturday by Texas A&M... I'm too embarrased to even mention the score...

We picked up the dog on trial to see how it will work out. So far it hasn't been too bad. The weather was great on Saturday, so we played with him quite a bit. He seems content to stay in the back yard (which is VERY nice!) and he loves to play fetch and will also chase you. He sits on command and can even shake your hand. Still, the only thing that is proving to be a catch is on being able to transport him. Since he's a pretty good size dog, we really wouldn't have room for him in the car when we go places. I've been bringing him inside during the night into our workroom (no carpet!) and the first two nights, he pooped inside. Last night, no poop. Good Boy!! It'll be hard to not keep him as he does have a very good personality, but I just don't know....

We had an All-Church Skate Night last night which is always fun. I made it to the second to last round of Limbo again when I ran into the bar with my head... I've got to figure out a way to "get down" a little further... HA!

Tonight we have a "student-led" teacher conference at 5Pm, then my son also has basketball practice at 6:30pm... so we're going to have a short and quick evening tonight.

Blessings!

Super Bowl

Alrighty, the time has come for the annual "Big Game." It's the Patriots vs. the Eagles this year with a "clean" half-time show by Paul McCartney. It's been announced that there will be no tape-delay in place and no wardrobe malfunctions either. But, it's live TV, so anything can happen. Plus, it's the time when all the crazy commericals are debuted. Can't wait... or... maybe I can. I'm not really excited about either team, so, I could really take it or leave it this year.

I think we're going to do a "test run" with this new dog for a week. If it works out, we'll pick him up today or tomorrow. He's just a tab bit bigger dog than I'd like to have, and I'm wondering if he'll get bigger as he has pretty good size paws.

My son has a Junior Bible Quiz meet tomorrow, so he'll be gone most of the day. Unfortuneately, I have to have him at the church to catch the bus by 5:45AM... So much for sleeping in this Saturday. But, we're suppose to have beautiful weather tomorrow, so I'm going to be outdoors enjoying it!

Blessings!

R.I.P. Enterprise

Some sad news... it was announced today that Paramount/UPN was cancelling the Star Trek: Enterprise series. The last episode will air Friday, May 13th. I've been a Star Trek fan for a long time and a Star Trek show, one that's showing new episodes (not reruns), will sorely be missed. Some say ST needs a rest, but I'm gonna miss it after it's gone. Snif... Okay, okay... I hear ya... "Get a life!".. HA!

My co-worker Rodney is doing very well now, and the doctors have discharged him from the hospital today. That's great news! Thanks for all your prayers.

Got word that my parents made it safe and sound to Sydney. They'll be there until Feb. 16th. It's summer time there, so they are enjoying 100 degree weather... HA!

We're all going to go look at another dog tonight. It's one year old, male, lab/hound mix. I just don't want to jump into something so soon after getting into the mess we had last time with our dog...

Blessings!

Happy Groundhog Day

Well, according to the "official" groundhog, we're in for another six weeks of winter... Oh well, Spring will get here when it gets here...

My co-worker Rodney, who I mentioned in my last post, is doing MUCH better. The doctors did determine that he had a heart attack and they put in some stints. They also determined that he is diebetic now. Anyway, he is feeling better and should get to go home by the end of the week. Thanks for your prayers!

Pres. Bush is set to give his State of the Union speech tonight... Looks like Social Security overhaul is going to be one of the major topics.

My parents left yesterday evening for a trip to Sydney, Austraila. Just heard from my aunt who was tracking the flight over the Internet and she said that they had just landed. I'm looking forward to seeing all the pictures. I wonder if they'll get to see Steve the Croc Hunter... Crickey!!

Blessings!
