Last Weekend

I tried to post a blog entry last Friday (Dec. 15th) afternoon, but when I hit the Publish button, I got an error message from Blogger that it couldn't do that, so I lost my entry. I hate when that happens.

Anyway, last weekend we made took a trip up to visit my mother-in-law. Sort of to spend our Christmas time with her as we won't see her over the actual holidays. We also got to eat lunch with one of my sister-in-laws as well. Overall we had a nice visit, but that drive can sure get long (4 hours).

My parents were in London, England all last week. It was business related, but they did get some sight-seeing in though. They said it rained most of the time, but guess that's about normal for over there. They got back last Sunday night safe & sound. :-)

My son has crossing guard duty this week at school. There are two fifth-grade classes at his school and one kid from each class takes a week for duty. They have to put up the flags and help kids get in the school. He got off a little lucky this week as they get this Friday off for the beginning of Christmas break.

Speaking of Christmas break, I'm taking off work for the week between Christmas and New Year's. It's nice to just take some time off and spend it with the kids, playing with the new toys, etc. We're going to take a quick trip to a big city town right after Christmas and go shopping and other things. We made sure the hotel and an indoor pool! :-) Then, over the New Year's weekend, another sister-in-law and her husband that we don't get to see very often as they live in North Carolina will be staying with us for a few days. They're getting ready to move to Indiana (job move), so at least they're getting a little closer to "home."

My son and I are working on our second Lego Star Wars movie as well. Our target date for "release" is Christmas Day so we can show it off to all the cousins, but it's gonna be cut close as we've done a lot more on this one and just getting all the "special effects" in place have been hair-pulling! :-) It's been a lot of hard work, but fun at the same time.

Let It Snow, Let It Snow, Let It Snow...

Yeah, right!! Last Thursday night (Nov 30th) we got hit with a major snow storm (we even had "Thundersnow") hit our area. We first started off with a couple of inches of sleet, then we got 14-15" of snow on top of that. Needless to say, I didn't make it in to work on Friday morning. I wouldn't have even made it in if I could have shoveled out the driveway as the snow plow didn't come by our house until close to 5pm. I shoveled for what seemed like an eternity on Friday. I made it close to the end of the driveway when I quit, as I knew the snow plow would leave a big wall of ice/snow when it eventually came. So Saturday left me trying to dig out from all that mess, which I did around noon. We went out after lunch to go buy some groceries as we were getting kind of low since my wife was waiting until payday to go shopping. It was a major ordeal all around the area. Even today when I dropped off my son at school, they hadn't gotten the majority of the parking lot scraped off yet. I was a little worried about getting around in it as I was in my pickup truck which is pretty light and rear-wheeled, but I made it! HA! The temps have been pretty chilly in the mornings too... only around 8 degrees! Bbbrrrrr!

December sure came in with a bang!
