Zero Hour

Well... it has finally come... almost. This is moving week. I'm talking off the rest of the week (Tues. thru Fri) to finalize all the packing, fixups, etc. to get ready for the move. Final walk throughs are this Thursday night and then Friday morning are the closings. We go at 9AM Friday for the closing on our current house and then at 11AM we do the closing for our new house. Then the moving starts Friday afternoon. We'll start with most of the boxes, etc. and then on Saturday, when most of the help comes, the big stuff will get moved.

We're also trying to get all the utilities, phone service, etc. etc. all switched over. What a pain... and expensive... What's up with all these deposit and transfer fees... UGH!

This past weekend's weather was just picture perfect. 70 degrees, sunshiine, light breeze... beautiful! Saturday evening we had a Men's Fish Fry at the church... Ummm good stuff. Then on Sunday night, we had a Pastors and Staff Appreciation Dinner at the church. It was a catered dinner from Michael's Unforgettable B-B-Q.... Oh man!! I had the BBQ Pork Steak that was just awesome. My wife had the BBQ Chicken that she said was very good. Some good eatn' this weekend!

Go Cards! The Cards pulled out the National League Title by beating the Astros in game 7... But, they haven't played so well in the first two games of the World Series against the Boston Red Socks (in Boston). They start game 3 Wednesday night in St. Louis, so let's hope that helps things...

Most likely my next update will be after the move so look out! :-)

Blessings!

Packing Up!

Well, not too much has been going on lately... Gathered up a bunch of boxes and we've been packing up stuff a little bit every day. The walls are bare of pictures, and things look all out of order, but that's the norm for now. I'm taking off most of next week (Oct 26-29) to finish up and get the minor fix-ups done. The two closings are Friday (29th) morning and we can start moving that afternoon. Most of the help is coming on that Saturday to move all the big funiture stuff. Going to start calling all the utility companies, etc. tomorrow to get things ready to switch over.

We may have a new home for the dog... My Mother-in-law has a friend who's brother has a large farm with livestock, etc. So we're checking to see if he might be interested in taking the dog to his wide-open spaces. Here's hoping!

Looks like Boston's Red Socks' "Bambino" curse has been broken (so far). They made baseball history last night by beating the Yankees in game seven to go on to the World Series. They were 3 games to 0 behind and came back to win 4 games in a row to win the American League Chamionship. Tonight we'll see who they face....either the Cardinals or the Astros as those two teams play game seven tonight... Go Cardinals!! :-)

Blessings!

Things are happening!

Wow... seems like a lot of things are happening fast now. Last Monday (Oct 4th) we got the inspection done on the house we're buying and there were just a few minor things that need to be fixed by the sellers, but overall, everything looked great!

The sellers also mentioned that they'll be able to move out at closing time as they'll be able to move into a temp home until their house being built is done! Yeah, no waiting until middle of November!

Just got a call from the bank and the appraisal just came back on the house. It came back higher than the selling price, so no help there, but guess we can look at it that we're getting a good deal!?! :-)

Last Tues (5th), comedian Rodney Dangerfield passed away at the age of 82. Not sure if he still gets any respect or not though... :-)

Last Wed (6th), NewTek, the company that makes the video editing/switching hardware/software we use at the church, announced the release of the new version of the VT... VT[4]. Lots of new updates and exciting features. A little pricey though...

Last Sunday (10th), actor Christopher Reeves passed away at the age of 52. It was reported that he went to the hospital for treatment of a bed sore, had a heart attack and went into a coma. Christopher is best known for his role as Superman in the movies.

Tonight I have a church board meeting where I'll be presenting the proposal for a Media Director staff position. It'll probably get shot down due to the budget situation, but I at least want to get it in front of the board and get them thinking about it. We really need someone like this to help fill an important role in the church.

Blessings!

House Inspection

After finally working out things with our buyers to get approved for their loan, things are finally getting started with our new house. Yesterday (Oct 4th) after work, I met our realtor and inspector at our new house to go over the house. We were there over 2 hours! There were just a few minor things for the sellers to fix, but nothing major thankfully. The appraisal should be taking place in a few days. We're praying that the appraisal price comes in lower than what the actual selling price is so that we'll get a few thousand bucks knocked off the price. That would be nice since we had to help our buyers so much with their closing costs.

Also yesterday, private spacecraft SpaceShipOne rocketed into space for the second time in a week to claim the coveted 'X Prize', a $10 Million dollar prize. Congrats to Rutan and crew for doing a great job. I'm starting to save up for my $200,000 ticket for a ride into space.... NOT!

Blessings!
