Slow week

Well, not much has happened this week (house-wise) anyway... So no updates on that.

School started Monday (23rd) for my son, and so far he still likes his teacher (HA!). He did say she's pretty strict, which I don't mind at all.

The music group I do a website for has changed members and format, so they want a totally different site which I'm working on now. I"m using Flash elements for the first time, so that's been a learning experience for me too. Guess it's always good to learn new things.

3-2-1 Contract!

YES! The couple wanting to buy our house has been pre-approved and we'll be signing the contract tonight! Wow... it's really hard to believe this is actually happening and we'll be moving soon. Seems so surreal... We've been in our house for 12 years already and it's hard to imagine being in a different house.

We attended my son's school's open house last night and he's pretty happy with the teacher he got and also that some of his best friends are in his same classroom. School starts on Monday (23rd) and I know he's ready and my wife is ready also! HA!

It's Friday! Double Yeah!!

House and School

Well, found out that the couple looking to buy our house couldn't get in to see their loan officer until today. So hopefully we'll hear from them soon if they got pre-approved or not.

Tonight is the Open House for my son's school. We'll find out who his teacher will be and who all will be in his class. He'll be in the Fourth Grade this year.

My son had a great time at the State Fair with his grandparents on Tuesday (17th). He did get a little sick after riding one of the big rides that go upside down, but did okay after getting something to drink later. They spent most of the day there and he had a good time tagging along with his cousins that went too. They didn't get home until about 9PM that night.

Another House Update

Last night, at 7pm, the couple came over with the realtor to look at the house again. The father of the husband came also to help "find something wrong." Our family took off so we wouldn't be around. We went to a local park for awhile until we started getting eaten alive by mosiquitos. A guy in our church owns and operates a frozen custard business at our local mall, so we went there afterwards. I had some old gift certificates to the place that I was a little worried they wouldn't accept with them being a little over a year old, but they did (after the lone teenage worker called the owner on the phone...ha!) We then let our 2 year old play in the mall's "play place" and headed back home. We passed the couple and the realtor as they were leaving, so we timed it just perfectly.

The couple is going to the bank today to see if they can get pre-approval for the home loan as they really like the house. If they can do it, it would really work out great in everyone's favor as they are renting currently, and are willing to wait until the closing date of our new house of Oct. 29th. We're all just praying that everything works out.

My parents picked up my son today along with a couple of his cousins and headed to the State Fair for the day. It'll give my wife a little break from the constant bickering/fighting between the kids. HA! School starts next Monday, and my sons starts the fourth grade. We have an Open House at the school to see who his teacher will be and who all will be in his class.

Got a church deacon board meeting tonight. Hope it doesn't last too long... Although the dinners are always good! :-)

Open House

I took off work on Friday, the 13th by the way, to enjoy some family time and to get the yard/house ready for our Open House that took place on Saturday, the 14th. We had 3 separate ladies come by to look at the house, one of which was the neighbor across the street, and what appeared to be an unmarried couple. Unfortuneately, no one was really interested, so it was pretty much a bust. At least the weather was nice. We went up to visit my folks and spent the day with them to get away from it all and had a nice visit.

On Sunday, we shared with our Pastor about wanting to sell our house and he told us that the youth pastor and his wife were looking for a house... They actually came over Sunday afternoon and loved the house. Wow! They're coming over again tonight (Monday, 16th) to bring their parents over to give it the "look over" and we'll go from there. The only thing I see that could be a hinderence is the financing they'll need... They're still young and don't have much money, so hopefully they'll get approved for a whole 100% loan.

Had a lot of dog problems also this weekend, but I don't really care to get into all that.... Makes my blood start to boil up when I think about it...

It's another beautiful day outside... So hard to be inside at work...

Memoirs

Well, I finally started it... For a long time now I've wanted to write out my memoirs. I've started it many times in my mind, but never could get it written down. I finally opened an empty MS-Word document and started typing. It's called "Dates to Remember," and the chapters will be broken down into individual dates of importance in my life as well with as many memories as I can remember during those times for filler inbetween. It's going pretty good so far... I'm up to my life in the Second grade. :-) This is a project that will really never be completed until after I'm dead as I'll always have new memories to add. Hopefully, a decendant will finish the last chapter.

As I get some of the eariler chapters fleshed out in the format I want, I hope to add pictures as well. It may even be printed in a book someday, or maybe on a website or something. Anyway, I've got this blog to help me in my day to day ramblings, so I'm leaving my project to the big overall picture of the happenings of my wonderful life. :-)

Work Anniversary - 15 Years!

Well, this is a little late, but July was my 15th Work Anniversary. I actually started working at my current job on July 17th, 1989, but they always round it up to the 1st of the month. 15 years... wow... it's gone by pretty quickly. But hey, now I'll start to get 14 hours of vacation time a month!! Whoo Hoo!! When you start, you get 10 hours. Then after 10 years, you get 12 hours and after 15, you get 14 hours. Pretty cool, eh? :-) Like on my 10th anniversary, I'll be getting a framed certificate and a service pin... Guess I'll store it away with my 10 year pin... HA!

Dumb dog woke me up this morning at 2:30AM... She had pulled on the cage again and bent it slightly again so that she could push the bottom cage tray out of the cage (again). Guess she really had to "go" as I took her outside and she "went" right away. She'd been doing so well lately, but last night she was pretty hyper... Maybe it was too much excitement during the day as she got to go out and play a lot in the backyard with the kids and again in the evening with me. It's been very nice weather wise (low 70's) this week... Sure doesn't seem like August!! I just hope it doesn't translate into a very bitterly cold winter....

Blessings!

Hopping Like Mad

Man, I'm getting lazy in updating this blog... Over a whole week has passed without an update! Shame on me!!

I feel like the proverbial chicken running around with its head chopped off! We've been fixing up the house and cleaning and trying to "keep" it clean like crazy. Our house has been on the market now for a week, but no showings yet. The realtor has said he's received about 4-5 calls, but mostly information investigative type calls so far. Still have a few little jobs to finish up on the house, but nothing major.

We have also got one of those kennel/cage things for the dog and we're keeping her in the garage. It's working out pretty good. No more late night barkings, which should be keeping the neighbors happy, and she's doing good by not pooping/peeing in the cage. We take her out about every two hours and take her out in the evenings/weekends so she can run around and get some exercise. It seems to be working out ... Finally! At first, she was bending part of the cage below the door and then was able to push out the plastic tray bottom out of the cage. I did a few modifications to the cage and she seems to have stopped trying to "dig out."

My parents have headed down to Texas for some filming and training classes for their computerized quilting machine. They seem to be having a good time meeting new people and selling machines! :-)

Last Monday (Aug 2nd), we went to the bank to meet with a Loan Officer to get the loan approval for our new house loan... Kinda makes me sick to see the higher payments that I'll be paying for a LONG time (we're looking at a 30 year loan...). Ugh.

Also, last week (Tues, Aug 3rd) we had our Primary elections here in our fine state. We overwhelmingly passed an amendment to our state constitution to state that marriage is between one man and one woman. We were the first state to pass something like that. I know other states were watching as they also have the same amendment on their ballots coming up soon. Our democratic incumbent governor was also beat out by the democratic challenger... That hasn't happened in a long time either... but I'm pretty happy it did... :-)

Just saw on the CNN website today that actress Fay Wray passed away on Sunday, Aug. 8th. She of course was the famous screaming leading lady in the classic "King Kong" movie. She was 96. We just re-watched that movie not too long ago...

Blessings!
